Steve Hall reading the program between Degrees. This was the first week-end of the Scottish Rite Reunion.
The Des Moines Symphony had a fund raiser pajama party today. The kids saw a concert in the Banquet room and a peanut butter lunch in the Tapestry Longue. Here is a little film of them dancing.

The "Rite" Stuff

Over at the Illustrious Order of the Three Ruffians there is an interesting post on the Scottish Rite. I learned something, you may also. BTW. The counter at the bottom of our Blog has now gone over 10,000 hits. Thanks for Reading.

Paul R. Knapp 33° Spring 4 Day Reunion Begins

We have chosen Paul R. Knapp 33° to be the honoree for the 2009 Spring 4 day Reunion class.

PAUL R. KNAPP 33°

Paul was born in Detroit, MI. on December 18, 1927 and grew up in Allerton, Iowa. After graduating from AIB and serving in the Navy, he joined his brother and life long business partner Bill Knapp. He started as a salesman and soon became one of the top agents at Iowa Reality. Paul became General Sales Manger in 1970 and President of the Company in 1977. Paul was the president of the Des Moines Board of Realtors. He also served on the board of West Bank, Iowa Aviation Expo, American Institute of Business, Dowling Catholic School and Scottish Rite Park.

Paul was a life long avid golfer and enjoyed anything to do with aviation. He hosted an annual model air plane show at his farm for family and friends. Upon retirement Paul realized a life long goal of becoming an instrument rated pilot. Paul was honored by his brother with the dedication of a new facility on the Iowa State Fairgrounds, the Paul R. Knapp Animal Learning Center

Paul was a member of Acanthus Lodge #632 in Des Moines, Iowa. He became a Master of the Royal Secret on April 19, 1958. He received the honor of Knight Commander Court of Honor on October 18, 1993 and was Coroneted, 33° Inspector General Honorary, on December 6, 2003. He was also a supporter of the Consistory Building Trust and the Iowa Scottish Rite Charitable and Education Foundation.
Paul passed to the Grand Lodge above on May 14, 2008.
