The Des Moines Consistory installed Daniel R. Hobson, 33°, as
Master of Kadosh on December 12, 2012. Dan was born in Hampton,
Iowa and graduated from Cherokee High School.
After high school, John attended the University
of Iowa and earned a
Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He has worked for the State Auditor’s
Office, Allied Group, and served 12 years in the U.S. Navy. Dan earned his
M.B.A. and currently owns and operates two businesses: Cruise Holidays and
Cookies by Design.
Dan was raised to the Degree of a Master Mason in Aomori Lodge #10 in Misowa, Japan in 1980 while serving in the Navy; in 1989, he joined Waveland Park Lodge and is a three-time Past Master. He is a member of the Des Moines York Rite. Dan joined the Des Moines Scottish Rite in 1990.
John is married to Dr. Sandra Hobson and they have two daughters; one daughter lives in Taiwan and the other in South Carolina. Sandra is an Audiologist practicing in the Des Moines area.
Dan’s vision for the Des Moines Consistory is to continue the strong work of his predecessors. His focus will be to generate additional interest in the Rite and plan events to attract both new members and motivate existing members to increase their involvement. There are many volunteer opportunities in which members can become involved, and Dan is excited to see our organization continue its active role in Freemasonry in Iowa. “I believe in the rule that somebody can always say no,” Dan says, “and we want to take care or our volunteers will say no.” Dan brings his wide professional background in management and practical experience in leadership to the Des Moines Scottish Rite.
Congratulations to the Des Moines Consistory Master of Kadosh, Daniel R. Hobson, 33°!
