"Bring a Friend" Night Fall Reunion Kick-Off

EagleDo you have a friend who you think would be a good Mason?  Do you know a Mason who would enjoy membership in Scottish Rite?  Our Fall Reunion kick-off is designed just for them.  It is a chance for you to introduce someone to Masonry and the Scottish Rite.  It will be held on Thursday, September 22 beginning with social hour at 6pm followed by dinner and the program.

Dress for the event is business casual but we encourage you to wear a Masonic shirt or pin if you have one.

This event is FREE for PROSPECTIVE MEMBERS for Blue Lodge or Scottish Rite with a reservation. Cost is $10 for Scottish Rite Masons and includes a great dinner of salad, grilled steak and loaded baked potato!

Congratulations to Master of Kadosh Shane Harshbarger on being elected as Grand Treasurer of the Grand Lodge of Iowa.  Also Congratulations to Charlie Smithson, Senior Warden of the Lodge of Perfection,  on his elevation to a Grand Senior Deacon and Brian Pappadoucas, Past Master of Kadosh, Grand Marshal. Bryce Hildreth was named Chairman of Division and Reference. Quarterly Meeting - Election of Officers




Members gathered for a meal prepared by the Kitchen Krew prior to the Quarterly Meeting.  The Hamburgers, Brats, baked Beans and cole slaw supper was delicious and the fellowship was enjoyed by all.  


Following supper the members retired to the Classroom for the Quarterly meeting.  


Master of Kadosh, Shane Harshbarger opened the meeting with the usual proclamation followed by prayer and 
the Pledge of Allegiance.


Reports from the Secretary, Treasurer, Lighting crew were received.



We are at 32 new Masters of the Royal Secret so far this year.
            Kick off for the Fall Reunion is Sept 22 -  

26 of the 29 degrees are planned for the Fall Reunion
  • Greg Spooner announced a 
Membership Meeting Tuesday evening at Sambetti’s  6 PM  He said that for theFall Reunion -  We need all your help to bring in new members,  Keep the Scottish Rite in mind,  Ask Brothers if they are interested in joining the Scottish Rite. We currently have a goal of 30 more members for the Fall Reunion. 


 The Reunion dates are October 28 and 29 and November 11 and 12.  Twenty-six of the twenty-nine degrees will be a part of the class which is names for Ellis E. Monk 33   Balloting on Candidates will be on October 12 ans 19.

Cost of the Gala (Nov.12) will be $50 a person with a discounted price of $40 each for those who reserve early.  Details to be announced.

Personal Rep Knoll mentioned the fundraising efforts which are underway which will fund several projects.  We have a goal of raising $125,000.  
We have a donar who will give us $10,000 if we raise $20,000.   Some projects have been started.  The money is being raised for the Des Moines Consistory Building Trust and are tax-deductable.


 Following the meeting Master of Kadosh Harshbarger gave an interesting presentation on the first three degrees of Freemasonry as written by Albert Pike and exemplified by some of the Southern Scottish Rite Lodges.
 The presentation was extremely interesting and pointed out the many differences between the Pike degrees and the first three degrees which are a part of American Grand Lodges.

Meet Our "Terrible Brother" on September 7th
The quarterly meeting and elections for the Des Moines Consistory and Council of Kadosh will be held on Wednesday, September 7th. In addition to the quarterly meeting, there will be a special University of Freemasonry program on the Scottish Rite versions of the Symbolic Lodge degrees.  These degrees were written in the 1870's by Albert Pike and were meant to supplement the teachings in the craft degrees.  They utilize symbolism, lectures, and ceremonies from early French, Scottish, English, and German sources.  One of the characters featured in these degrees is the "Terrible Brother" come join us to learn more about him and others.


The evening will begin at 6:30 pm with dinner ($8) followed by the quarterly meeting and University of Freemasonry program at 7:30 pm.  This event is for Scottish Rite Masons only. Please RSVP for dinner,rsvp@dmscottishrite.org or 515-288-8927.
