Annual Meeting and Feast of Kadosh

The Annual Meeting of the Des Moines Consistory will be held on Wednesday February 11, 2015 at 6:00 pm. After the annual meeting there will be a Feast Day celebration for the Council of Kadosh.

According to the Supreme Council of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, a Council of the Kadosh celebrates a Feast Day (March 19). These dates correspond to the founding of the Order and the martyrdom of Jacques de Molay. We will celebrate both on February 11th following the annual meeting.

Our evening will feature dinner, toasts, and a special program on the Council of Kadosh and the Knights Templar. Most of us know the basic story of the Templars but we hope to share some additional knowledge that may come as a surprise to you. For example, the 30th Degree is the 3rd of the 6 Knight Templar degrees of Scottish Rite. Do you know the other 5?

This event is open only to Scottish Rite Masons. Cost is $12 for dinner and program.

Pardon our Dust, First Quarter Renovations have Begun!

Due to our successful fundraisers over the past year, we were able to start the renovations of the Third Floor Hallway and Members Lounge. The area is currently being painted and new light fixtures are being installed. Thank you for your continued support of the Scottish Rite to help make projects like this possible!

Blue Lodge Breakfast

The Des Moines Scottish Rite hosted the annual Blue Lodge Breakfast on Saturday, January 17 with a full house of Masons in attendance. The Honorable Senator Charles Grassley was in attendance and spoke of his love for Masonry and how the fraternity has influenced his life.

Personal Representative Bryce Hildreth, PGM, introduced visitors and guests and told a fascinating story about President Harry Truman and the values of Freemasonry.

Ron Lindhart presented an educational program on the Charles Morgan Affair and reminded those present of the resources available for education in the Blue Lodges.

After the breakfast, brothers from several lodges competed in the cribbage tournament held in the Tapestry room. (MM)

Join us for the 2015 Symbolic Lodge Breakfast and University of Freemasonry

This is the 15th annual breakfast hosted by the Des Moines Scottish Rite.  It is an opportunity to meet members from the various lodges in Central Iowa, enjoy a great breakfast, and learn more about Freemasonry.
The breakfast is free to all Masons with a reservation. It will begin at 8:00 am on Saturday, January 17 at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center (519 Park Street).   Please reserve by January 14th by calling 515-288-8927 or via email rsvp@dmscottishrite.org
At our annual Symbolic Lodge Breakfast, Ron Lindhart, 33° will present a program on the William Morgan Affair.  The disappearance of Morgan had far-reaching effects, in the Northeast most lodges and many Grand Lodges ceased operations, the anti-Masonic political party was born, and our lodges changed forever.
Following the breakfast will be the University of Freemasonry program and then our Annual Cribbage Tournament at 9:30 am.  Anyone can play in the cribbage tournament.
