Jack Curtis Frost, 92, passed away on September 8, 

2018  at Calvin Community Nursing Home in Des Moines. A memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 13 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home & Crematory in Urbandale.

Jack was born December 12, 1925 in Ottumwa, Iowa to James and Nellie Frost.  Jack served in the Army Air Corps during WWII as a Staff Sergeant and B-17 crew member.  Jack moved to Des Moines in 1956. He worked as an engineer for Union Pacific Railroad prior to working for NW Bell Telephone Company until he retired in 1986. 

Jack was a member of DeMolay in Ottumwa as a teenager and joined Empire Lodge #269 in July of 1948. Jack later affiliated with Daylight Lodge #660 in Des Moines, serving as Master in 1992.  He also served as Treasurer for many years.  He was a member of the High Twelve, Ottumwa York Rite and the Chanters Unit of the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine.  Jack served as a Trustee of Za Ga Zig and was a Past Chairman of the Shrine Circus.

He joined Des Moines Consistory in 1987.  He was active as a Ritualist, Sound Crew member, the Breakfast Club, Kitchen Krew and Double Eagle chorus.  He was honored with the rank and distinction of the Knight Commander of the Court of Honour in 1993.  Jack received the 33^rd and last degree on November 10, 2007.

Jack is survived by his wife, Wilma; grandchildren, James (Marcy) Heggen and Brenda (Mike) Carter; two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Emily Carter; and son-in-law, Tim Cantrell. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Jane Cantrell; brother, Richard; and sister, Marjorie Deets.

September 6, 2018 Hill and Cox Elected To Preside in 2019 At our quarterly meeting last night, Rusty Hill, Wise Master of the Des Moines Chapter Rose Croix, was elected to be the Master of Kadosh of the Des Moines Consistory. Rusty has served the Des Moines Valley in the Rose Croix line since 2009. Rusty joined the Des Moines Consistory in the Spring of 2003 and was invested a Knight Commander of the Court of Honour in 2009. Illustrious Brother Hill was coroneted with the 33rd Degree in 2015. He is currently the Chairman of the Stage and Property committee as well as Degree Master for the 16th Degree, Prince of Jerusalem. Rusty is a member and Past Master of Gnemeth Lodge #577 in West Des Moines. He is also the Grand Secretary of the Iowa York Rite bodies and is a Past Grand Commander, Knights Templar in Iowa. He is retired from Iowa Export/Import. He and his lady, Robin, live in rural Perry, Iowa. As Ill. Bro. Hill will move from the office of Wise Master to Master of Kadosh, Thomas D. Cox will become the new Wise Master for the Des Moines Valley, Chapter Rose Croix. Tom is currently the Senior Warden in the Rose Croix line. He joined the Des Moines Scottish Rite bodies on February 12, 2005. He is active in many of our degrees as a ritualist, most notably, as Zerubbabel in the 16th Degree and as Count Reinfred in the 21st Degree. He is also the Degree Master for the 26th Degree, Prince of Mercy. Tom was invested with the rank and decoration of the Knight Commander of the Court of Honour in 2013. Tom is currently serving as Master of Legacy Lodge #678. Elected to the position of Senior Warden in the Rose Croix was Brad Reichardt, 32° KCCH of Pleasant Hill. Brad joined AASR in the Fall of 2003. He is active as a ritualist in numerous degrees, presiding in the 4th, 17th, and 29th. Brad is the Degree Master of the 29th Degree, Knight of St. Andrew and he was honored with the Knight Commander of the Court of Honour in 2017. He is a member of Legacy Lodge #678 and is an officer in the Des Moines York Rite. He is a Past State Master Councilor and Deputy Member of the International Supreme Council of the Order of DeMolay. Brad moves up from the office of Junior Warden. Our newly elected Junior Warden for the Chapter Rose Croix is Brian M. Truex of Rockwell. He Brian serves on the stage crew, technology committee and as a ritualist in several degrees. Brian joined Scottish Rite in the spring of 2013. He has been active in a variety of Masonic bodies, serving as Master of Harding Lodge #649, presiding over the Mason City York Rite bodies and Monarch of HAPAC Grotto. These officers as well as the officers of the Des Moines Consistory, listed below, will be installed in their new positions on Wednesday, December 12, 2019 in-conjunction with our Holiday Party and quarterly meeting.
