REUNION UPDATES - November 6

A couple of updates for the Fall Reunion to keep everyone in the loop, Friday night will begin at 5:00 pm with dinner in the Tapestry Lounge. Dinner will be roasted pork loin, baked potato, green beans, salad, and dessert. Cost is $10.

Degree performances: 20^th to 22^nd degrees perform on Friday night. We will have several visitors in attendance from both Kansas City and Cedar Rapids that I am aware of. Let's give them a warm welcome. 20^th Degree kicks off at 6:00 pm.

Saturday begins early. The 23^rd degree (Chief of the Tabernacle) begins at 7:45 am. If you are an early riser stop in and watch their performance. They do a great job but unfortunately, it is usually to a small audience since they are the 1^st degree of the morning.

Lunch is at 12:20 pm in the Tapestry room. It will be a pizza buffet, salad, cottage cheese, and dessert.   Cost is $5.

DOUBLE EAGLE GALA UPDATES

We still have a few reservations available, so if you would like to attend but haven't made a reservation, please contact the AASR office. We would like to have you celebrate Scottish Rite with our new members and their ladies.

We have had a few questions on dress code. It is tuxedo optional but a suit or coat and tie is perfectly acceptable.

Cost is $40 per person for hors de oeuvres, steak dinner, and party. If you need a vegetarian option, please let me know.

Freestyle is a great band. I am sure you will enjoy the evening.

Fall Reunion starts on Friday Night!

The Fall Reunion honoring John H. McKlveen, Jr. 33° starts with dinner at 5:00 pm on Friday, October 25^th.  Dinner will be lasagna, garlic bread, salad, and ice cream. Cost is $8. The dinner will be in the Tapestry Lounge.  The reunion opening will be at 6:00 pm in the Auditorium. Friday Night will consist of the 4^th to 8^th Degrees. These Lodge of Perfection degrees illustrate how King Solomon and Hiram, King of Tyre, dealt with the loss of the Grand Architect, Hiram Abiff. There were many issues to address following his death and the Lodge of Perfection degrees culminate with the completion of the Temple and the finding of the lost word of Craft Masonry. 

Saturday will begin at 8:00 am with 9^th Degree, Elu of the Nine. Lunch will be hot beef sandwiches, mashed potatoes and gravy ($5). The reunion will finish with the 18^th Degree, Knight Rose Croix. Following the 18^th Degree, there will be a social hour to welcome our new candidates and relax after the first weekend of the reunion. It is scheduled for 5:30 pm. 

We hope you will join us as we welcome new members into the Scottish Rite.

First weekend of the Fall Reunion

The first weekend of the 2012 Lyle C. Smith, 33° Fall Memorial Reunion is in the books! The new class was welcomed Friday night with a pork chop dinner followed by opening ceremonies complete with bagpipes. Four degrees were performed Friday evening and eight on Saturday. Following the degree work Saturday evening, all at the Reunion enjoyed a social in the fourth floor Billiards room.

The Reunion continues November 2-3. Over the course of this two weekend Reunion, the class will see twenty-seven of the twenty-nine Scottish Rite degrees. If you’re a member of a recent class, come on down and reconnect with those you haven’t seen in a while; if you joined the Scottish Rite some time ago, you’ll see degrees you’ve never seen before! Take some time to relax and enjoy the food, fellowship, and the University of Freemasonry. (MM)
