Scottish Rite Charity: Meals from the Heartland

Volunteers Needed!

The Des Moines Scottish Rite Valley has chosen Meals from the Heartland for a special charity project on Sunday, December 19th. Meals from the Heartland is a Des Moines based non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization composed of volunteers who package meals for delivery to starving people around the world.

Our Valley has committed to purchasing and packaging 20,000 meals for those in need. To accomplish this project we will be looking for approximately 75 volunteers to spend from 1pm to 5 pm with us at the Scottish Rite. During that time we will assemble the meals and pack them in boxes. With 75 people, everyone should be able to participate, and yet there will be time for breaks for food and drink, as we will be divided into teams. Participation is not limited to Scottish Rite Masons. Your family, spouse, friends, lodge members, are all invited and encouraged to assist us in this worthwhile cause.

If you are able to help, please sign up by calling the SR office (515-288-8927) or via email rsvp@dmscottishrite.org.

This project is a great was for us to come together during this special time of year and assist those less fortunate than ourselves. The funds utilized for the purchase of the meals are a grant from the Iowa Scottish Rite Masonic Foundation.

Should you have any questions or concerns please contact Shane Harshbarger (515-288-8927) or Bill Clark (515-282-8150).
