Scottish Rite Express

Master of Kadosh John W. Clearman, 33° has chosen "Masonic Unity" as the theme for the Summer One Day Scottish Rite Reunion. John having been active in the York Rite as well the Scottish Rite selected three pillars of York Rite Masonry as the honorees for this special class to recognize the long standing connection between the York Rite and Scottish Rite.

York RiteThe honorees are Jerry E. Marsengill 32° KCCH, Albert R. Masters 32° KCCH, and John Harris "Jack" Watts, 32° KCCH. Each of these men were nationally known Masons who provided years of dedication and effort for the benefit of Iowa Masonry. We are pleased to recognize them as the honorees for this special day.

EaglesWe call our degree conferrals "Reunions" because the brethren come together to share the special lessons of the Scottish Rite degrees with a new class of candidates. As we meet to witness and perform these degrees, the teachings of the Scottish Rite are exemplified to our new brothers and reinforced in us anew.

The "Masonic Unity" Class will be a one day reunion and will feature 8 of the Scottish Rite degrees (4°, 7°, 14°, 17°, 18°, 26°, 30°, 32°) including our first ever portrayal of the 26th Degree, Prince of Mercy. A full schedule of activities is below.

Following the degree work will be our BBQ and Blues Party along with a special musical presentation "Workmen of the Forest". The "Workmen of the Forest" will be the Scottish Rite version of a dinner theater and is open to SR Masons, wives, and guests.

The cost to attend the dinner and presentation is $18 per person. The menu will be BBQ including smoked beef brisket, pulled pork, and all the trimmings. Reservations can be made by calling the Scottish Rite Office (515-288-8927) or via emailrsvp@dmscottishrite.org . Please reserve by August 20th.

 "400 Club"
One of the highlights of the 2012 Membership Appreciation Night was an update on the Cornerstone Capital Campaign.  William L. Knoll, 33° Personal Representative of the SGIG, announced that our fund-raising efforts for the campaign are in their final stages for the 2012 year and that we are well on our way to meeting the goal of $125,000.00 to match the W.T. and Edna Dahl Foundation challenge.

One important aspect of this campaign is to involve as many members as possible.  Our "400 Club" does just that. We are looking for 400 Scottish Rite Masons to donate $50 by December 1, 2012.  If successful this will raise the final $20,000 to reach our goal.  These funds will then be matched by another donor with an additional $10,000 pushing the "400 Club" campaign contribution to $30,000 and reaching our goal.

I'm in - are you?
