The 2015 Fall Reunion in honor of Most Worshipful Brother, Alfred L. Jensen, 32° KCCH and Illustrious Brother, John D. Japhet, 32° KCCH will conclude this weekend.  The first weekend was excellent and I am sure this weekend will be of equal fun and quality.

The class officers are President, Matt Lemons of Acanthus Lodge.  Class Secretary is Rex Valle of Southgate and A. Ross Krischel of El Paso Lodge #76 is the Orator.

We will kick things off with dinner tomorrow night in the Tapestry room at 5:00 pm.  The Kitchen Krew will be preparing Chicken Cordon Bleu.  Cost is $10 per person.

The 19th Degree, Grand Pontiff will begin promptly at 5:45 pm in the auditorium.  This is a relatively new degree to our Valley, so if you haven't seen it, a full auditorium is always a good thing.  After the 19th Degree is the 20th, imagine that!  The 20th is the Master of the Symbolic Lodge at 6:45 pm, the Prussian Knights will make an appearance at 7:45 pm and last but not least will be the Knights of the Royal Axe at 8:55 pm.  As many of you know, the 22nd degree features our Double Eagle Chorus and is a fan favorite.

Saturday morning kicks off early and with degrees of a very serious and symbolic nature, these are the Religious degrees of the Council of Kadosh.  The 23rd, Chief of the Tabernacle begins at 7:30 am, followed by 24th at 8:05 am, 25th at 8:55 am, 26th at 9:35 am, 27th at 10:15 am.  The members of the Knights of St. Andrew will finish off the morning with the 28th
Degree, Knight Commander of the Temple.  Lunch will be in the Tapestry room and will have a Mexican flair.  It will be a Taco bar buffet beginning at 11:50 am.  Cost is $8.

Then it will be back to the auditorium for the finality of the reunion.  The 29th Knight of St. Andrew at 12:40 pm and Knight Kadosh at 1:25 pm.  This will complete the Council of Kadosh degrees.

The Consistory degrees (31st & 32nd) are completely different in both form and substance.  The 31st degree takes us to Ancient Egypt for the Court of the Dead at 2:50 pm, while the 32nd Degree (4:00 pm) reveals the Royal Secret.

Following the degree work will be our celebration of Scottish Rite Freemasonry, the Double Eagle Gala.  Social hour begins at 6:00 pm.  Master of Ceremonies, Ron Lindhart will be your host for the evening as we welcome our new Masters of the Royal Secret and honor our 50 year members.  Baratta's is catering with a choice of Beef Tenderloin or Salmon as the entrée.  Cost is $45 per person.

Our band for the Double Eagle Gala is "Freestyle" led by Ed Kelley.  It is a great band that is always popular with a wide range of songs and styles.

See you tomorrow night!

Meals from the Heartland - November 29th
Our annual charity project supporting the "Meals from the Heartland" will take place on Sunday, November 29th.  We will begin at 10:00 am and expect to finish up around 2:30 pm if all goes well.  Hopefully, this allows for some flexibility for everyone to attend and help out.  Feel free to join us for at any time during the event to help out as we always have plenty to do from beginning to end.
As we have done for the past several years we will pack 32,000 meals for those most in need.  This a great family event and there are plenty of ways to help regardless of age or ability.

Lunch and cookies will be provided to all in attendance at no charge.  Please help us out by calling or emailing the SR office (515-288-8927 or rsvp@dmscottishrite.org) with the number in your party so we can have plenty of food for everyone.

The funding for the purchase of the 32,000 meals comes from a grant given to Des Moines Consistory by the Iowa Scottish Rite Masonic Foundation in the amount of $5000.00.
