Scottish Rite Trivia
Albert Pike is one of the most famous Scottish Rite Masons and is probably the most responsible formaking Scottish Rite the largest Masonic organization in the United States. He became a member of the Scottish Rite in 1853 and became the first elected Sovereign Grand Commander in 1859. In addition to writing and updating the Scottish Rite rituals, he also restructured the Scottish Rite in many ways.
It was Pike who changed the number of active Supreme Council members from 9 to 33. He is the one who promoted T.S. Parvin to SGIG for Iowa. Under his administration, the Council of Princes of Jerusalem were eliminated as a separate body and folded into the Chapter of Rose Croix. He created the Knight Commander of the Court of Honour and the Grand Cross. Pike also changed the title of the 32nd degree from Prince of the Royal Secret to Master of the Royal Secret. He wrote the famous book "Morals and Dogma" as well as many others to give a member a deeper understanding of our degrees and lessons. Additionally, Pike wrote the Scottish Rite installation ceremony, the constitution of the new Scottish Rite bodies ceremonies as well as Scottish Rite funeral services.
So your question for this issue of the Scottish Rite Express is:
"On what date did Albert Pike receive the 33rd Degree and where did he received the degree?"
